Oh well, you sort of saw it coming, didn’t you? How long has Joss Whedon been “writing” that Wonder Woman script? It seems like a lifetime ago that geeks everywhere were geeking to the news that their main man was set to write and direct a live-action, big-screen version of the DC comic book heroine. And wasn’t it just yesterday that every actress in Hollywood was having their PR people work overtime to have their name associated with the role? Then all of a sudden Warner announces that they had bought someone’s Wonder Woman script (not by Whedon!) for some unfathomable reason, and the very next day Whedon walks off the project for good. Oh my, what is happening over there? Will we never see a Wonder Woman movie? Curiouser and curiouser…
But here’s what I think has happened. Warner bought the Wonder Woman script that they really like and they’re pushing it on Whedon. They give him an ultimatum: “Do it or don’t do it.” He says no, walks. So now Warner will hire someone else to do the script they’ve purchased for, from what I hear, 6-figures. So yeah, I think a Wonder Woman movie will be made, just not by Whedon.
Personally, I’m still holding out hope for a Kate Beckinsale Wonder Woman:
