“Letters From Iwo Jima” Trailer and Stills

Set to be released late December 2006 as the second half of his Iwo Jima two-parter (the first half being “Flags of Our Fathers”), Clint Eastwood’s “Letters from Iwo Jima”, about the World War II battle for the Japanese island of Iwo Jima, has been garnering a lot of awards lately, more so than “Flags”. While “Flags” focused on the American side of the battle for Iwo Jima, “Letters” will focus on the Japanese side. The film stars Ken Watanabe (”The Last Samurai”) and is in Japanese with English subtitles. Eastwood directs both movies, with Iris Yamashita scripting “Letters”.
