Rachel Weisz is out, but 26-year old Australian actor Luke Ford and Chinese actress Michelle Yeoh are in the “Mummy 3″, reports Variety. In the film, Ford will play Alex O’Connell, the 20ish son of adventurer Rick O’Connell (Brendan Fraser), who journeys into the forbidden tombs of China and into the Himalayas, where they run into a new shape-shifting mummy, a former Chinese emperor who was cursed by a female wizard. Kung fu superstar Jet Li, in only his second villainous role, will play the mummy, while Michelle Yeoh will assay the part of the wizard.
But what’s happened with Rachel Weisz? Well the actress may be out, but the studio and director Rob Cohen are still looking for a replacement for Evelyn O’Connell, who has been in both previous “Mummy” movies alongside Fraser.
