Mark Wahlberg to Star in M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Happening”

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Mark Wahlberg, coming off the critically panned and commercially blah “Shooter”, will be stepping into the leading man shoes of M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Happening”. So what’s it about? “Wahlberg will play the father of a family on the run from an apocalyptic threat to humanity.” Huh, sounds a lot like “War of the Worlds” to me, minus aliens and Tom Cruise. Or is it? Knowing Shyamalan, the “apocalyptic threat” will probably end up being the Teletubbies on crack. One can only hope.

“Man, I sure hope this movie is more ‘Happening’ than my last one…”
