The Hollywood Reporter reports that NBC has green light a new series based on “The Bionic Woman” from the ’70s. As you’ll recall, “Woman” was a female take on the successful “The Six-Million Dollar Man” starring Lee Majors as a guy who is equipped by cybernetic parts that when he runs, he makes a really loud chonk-chonk-chonk-chonk sound while appearing to move in slow-motion to us normal humans. No, really. The original “Bionic Woman” starred Lindsay Wagner.
The two bionic freaks actually teamed up once in a 1987 telefilm called “The Return of the Six-Million-Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman”. That proved successful enough to warrant a sequel called “Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman”, where the bionic freaks had assist from some bionic teens, including a pre-”Speed” Sandra Bullock. I kid you not.
NBC has tapped Laeta Kalogridis and David Eick (”Battlestar Galactica”) to write and produce the show. No word on who is going to go all bionic in the new series, but I vote for The OC’s Rachel Bilson, just because she’s real purty and as you can see from these pictures, she’s already used to wearing mask and fighting crime. At least I think she’s fighting crime in this get-up.
