Paris Hilton is due to be released from the slammer this upcoming Tuesday, after serving 23 days of her original 45-day sentence, thanks to “good behavior”. Basically, because she didn’t shank anyone, apparently, is enough to warrant “good behavior” in Los Angeles. (Is it any wonder O.J. was found not guilty of slaughtering two people? It’s L.A., baby, don’t try to make sense of it.) So this means the networks are lining up to interview Paris, right? Well, not really. After NBC got called out on trying to pay Paris $1 million for a sit-down interview, they have since gone into hiding, claiming the offer was never out there, and now ABC has gotten caught trying to do the same.
According to Reuters, in the aftermath of the NBC debacle, Hilton’s mother, Kathy, tried to seal a deal with ABC by going through Barbara Walters, but ABC axed the deal. Gee, my daughter is coming out of prison, so of course I’m going to try to sell her for TV time. You gotta love these screwed up Hollywood moms.
Is that the whole story? Apparently not.
Someone told Reuters that ABC had offered the Hiltons $100,000 for the interview BEFORE the NBC brouhaha, but the Hiltons turned them down to go to NBC for the $1 million. It was only after the NBC deal fell through that the Hiltons came back to ABC, but by then the news had leaked and it was CYA time for the networks.
But wait, there’s always CBS, right? Um, no. CBS isn’t interested in paying for an interview, either. At least, not now.
So what this means is, if Paris wants to get in front of the camera again (it’s like a moth to the flame, she can’t help herself, this girl NEEDS that camera badly), she’ll just have to do it for free.
You know, sort of like how she got famous in the first place…
UPDATE:
No one wants to pay Paris for an interview, except apparently CNN. TMZ reports that Paris Hilton will be appearing on Larry King Live Wednesday night, making it her first post-jail TV interview. No word on how much they’re paying the attention-seeking succubus.
