The DAY OF THE DEAD Remake Is Not So Good
The verdict is in: Hollywood needs to stop remaking classic horror films. Oh wait, nevermind. That horse got out of the barn a looooong time ago, and it’s not gonna come back in as long as Hollywood can make a dime or two off it without having to really work hard at it. Such is the zombie movie “Day of the Dead”, a supposedly remake of George Romero’s 1980s movie of the same name, that will surely be sold similar to Zach Snyder’s 2004 remake of Romero’s “Dawn of the Dead”. But according to a reviewer at AICN, this “Day of the Dead” sucks monkey balls. HARD.
This was my favorite part of the review:
But these aren’t regular zombies. These zombies are fast! They run, they climb up walls and crawl across the ceiling. They even drive cars. When there’s no more room in Hell, the dead will drive the earth. These zombies even dive out of the way when you try to hit them with a car. I’m pretty sure several were having a book club meeting. And in an inspiring bit of fancy, they burst into ash like cheap CGI vampires when they’re set on fire.
Har har. He goes on and on, and in a word, “Day of the Dead” blows the big monkey chunks.
So great. First that bad review for Lucy Liu’s “Rise: Blood Hunter”, and now this one. That’s two horror movies I’ve been looking forward to scratched off the list.
“Day of the Dead” the crappy remake stars Ving Rhames, Nick Cannon, Mena Suvari, Christa Campbell, Annalynne McCord, is directed by Steve Miner, and stinks up the joint sometime lame — er, I mean, soon.
