So after a lot of fits and starts, stops and gos, then stutters and futters — well, you get the idea — word comes from on top (well, from David Duchovny, anyway) that the “X-Files” movie sequel is finally a go. IMDB.com says: “…X-Files creator Chris Carter and writer Frank Spotnitz are busy working on a script for the new film. The news comes after weeks of speculation surrounding Anderson’s involvement in the project. Duchovny says, “This week, they’re starting some kind of road towards doing it (the film). Gillian and I both want to be in it now. We’re happy to do it. At this point all of the kind of fatigue and anxiety that we had towards the end of a nine-year run is gone.” Sounds like a plan to me.
Obviously this is something that both Anderson and Duchovny are desperate for. Duchovny’s career is on life-alert and Anderson is stuck in the UK (granted, a very nice country and all that jazz) doing movies and TV that no one outside the UK will ever see. If the “X-Files” movies gets made and becomes a hit (and how could it not?), they’ll both have resuscitated their careers. And of course, let’s not forget “X-Files” head honcho Chris Carter. His career hasn’t exactly been booming since the aliens left, either. In fact, he hasn’t done anything since the UFOs left orbit.

“So, um, you see where our careers went, Scully?”
