If you don’t know the name Joel Soisson, then you don’t like crappy, unnecessary direct-to-video sequels to moderately successful movies. Soisson is the master of superfluous remakes, having engineered, in one form or another, back-to-back sequels to gems like the “Dracula 2000″, “Hellraiser”, “Mimic”, “Prophecy”, and now, “Pulse”. As is his M.O., Soisson plans to make two sequels back to back, and will probably shoot both of them in Romania or thereabouts Eastern Europe where the dollar goes farther.
This from Moviehole:
In addition to the two “Feast” sequels he’s working on with writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (and possibly, director John Gulager), we hear horror producer Joel Soisson is also pushing the buttons on two straight-to-video sequels to the moderately successful (it recouped a little more than its $20 million dollar budget) teen horror outing [aka "Pulse"].
Chances are Kristen Bell isn’t coming back for these sequels, as she’s got a hot TV career and can easily move to movies when she feels like it. Why in the world would she come back for two cheaply made and quickie unnecessary sequels?
Some pics of Kristen Bell in the original “Pulse”. (Love the green screen work ones. How would you like that job? “Okay, now you guys just grope Kristen Bell everywhere, okay?” Nice work if you can get it.)
