Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis are re-teaming for the third time in “Black Water Transit”, an action-thriller that will be the third outing for the “Pulp Fiction” and “Die Hard with a Vengeance” co-stars. Production Weekly has more info on the film, including the replacement of original director Samuel Bayer, a music video vet, with Tony Kaye (”American History X”). Replacing a music video guy with a proven director? Sounds like a good move to me. I’m also intrigued by the casting of Jackson and Willis and then pitting them against each other instead of teaming them up. I don’t like the idea of Willis as a villain (he’s always a hero to me), but Jackson in anything should be fun times.
“Black Water Transit” was scripted by Doug Richardson, who also wrote Willis’ “Live Free or Die Hard”. The film is about Jack Vermillon (Jackson), a successful businessman and owner of a container ship company called Black Water Transit Company. Jack is desperate to help his ex-junkie son who is being sent to a maximum security prison for trafficking and armed robbery. Though he knows he can’t get his son off, Jack wants to at least get him transferred to a less dangerous prison. He makes a deal with the feds to bust a crooked former CIA agent (Willis) who wants a shipment of ancient & valuable weapons transported out of the country. However, when the bust goes done hell breaks loose leaving many feds and NYPD blue dead — and everyone wants to pin the blame on Jack, who now has to go on the run.
The film co-stars Sophie Okonedo, Kevin Bacon, James Franco. No release date has been announced.
