Justin Timberlake tries to get in sync (get it?) with crime in “Alpha Dog”, black college kids “Stomp the Yard”, Dominic Purcell takes on “Primeval”, and “Arthur and the Invisibles” will probably not be invisible to the kids. Personally, I’m intrigued by the notion of Justin “Fedora wearing dork” Timberlake’s performance in “Alpha Dog”; it’s supposed to be really good. Then again, I’m a genre man, so Purcell in “Primeval” would probably be on my list of weekend screenings.
But I know what movie will hit it big this weekend: “Stomp the Yard” will stomp the competition. Why? The trailers look kinda cool (or at least high energy) and kids love dancing movies. And by “kids” I of course mean teens and 20-somethings, the demo the movie is geared for. So look for some heavy stomping at the box office this weekend. I just hope they don’t try to insert some wacky “lessons” into the thing because, you know, that would just confuse the movie’s audience.
