The Italian Stallone punches back in “Rocky Balboa”, Ben Stiller gets silly in a “Night at the Museum”, Matt Damon and Robert De Niro badmouths the CIA in “The Good Sheperd”, and Matthew McConaughey grins his way through the sappy “We Are Marshall”. In limited release, you got Clint Eastwood’s subtitled “Letters from Iwo Jima”, Zhang Yimou’s return to action epic with “Curse of the Golden Flower”, Naomi Watts does Chinese in “The Painted Veil”, and something called “Venus” that no one will see but the critics will love.
