Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington is Arthur in Arthur & Lancelot

Kit Harington in Game of Thrones TV SeriesNeed an actor to play a bastard with a sword? Kit Harington’s your man.

After playing the bastard son of Sean Bean in “Game of Thrones”, Kit Harington is now playing the bastard son of the British empire’s king in “Arthur & Lancelot”, a new take on the Arthurian legend that will envision Arthur as an “illegitimate son being raised by a humble and poor knight in a village who will grow into an inspiring leader”.

“Wedding Crashers'” David Dobkin will direct the film, which is being envisioned as a “lighthearted action movie” in the vein of “Sherlock Holmes”, so none of that tragedy nonsense for this version. And since the film is called “Arthur & Lancelot” and not just “Arthur”, who will play Lancelot? Previous reports had the studio offering the role to “The Killing’s” Joel Kinnaman.

And if you’re wondering, Guinevere will indeed appear in the movie, but as not to ruin the whole “lighthearted action movie” vibe, she’ll only have a cameo in the film, with plans to make her role more prominent in future, potential sequels. (Yes, they’re envisioning this as a franchise. What, you surprise? Producers in Hollywood scream “trilogy!” during sex nowadays.)

If all goes well, shooting on “Arthur & Lancelot” will commence in March of next year.
