Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington to Flee Pompeii

Mount VesuviusJon Snow may not know much, but he knows when it’s time to run and when it’s time to lollygag, and a big ass volcano about to blow is definitely the time to run.

“Resident Evil” director Paul W.S. Anderson may have found his leading man for his epic flick “Pompeii” — “Game of Thrones” star Kit Harington, who was also in this year’s “Silent Hill: Revelation”, aka the horror movie sequel no one really wanted, and no one ended up seeing as a result.

Harington is said to be “in negotiations” for the male lead in “Pompeii”, which as its name suggests, will revolve around the 79 A.D. eruption of Mount Vesuvius and its devastating consequences for a Roman town called Pompeii nearby.

In the film, Harington would play “a slave stuck on a ship who must race against time to save his true love, his master’s daughter, as well as his best friend, a gladiator trapped in the coliseum when the destruction begins.”

The movie is being described as in the vein of James Cameron’s “Titanic” — a big-scale historical event anchored by a love story. It’s the kind of movie that I don’t think Anderson has done before, so it’ll be interesting to see how he handles it.
