Sigils, for the uninitiated, are official family symbols of the “Houses” on the TV show “Game of Thrones”. (The direwolf above, for example, is the official sigil of House Stark.) Readers of George R.R. Martin’s books (from which the show is based, of course) knows that Martin is quite fanatical about the details for every single House that appears in Westeros. I’ve seen the entire two seasons of “Game of Thrones”, and as far as I can tell, they don’t quite pay as much attention to it as the books, which is understandable. They’re mostly background noise at this point, and it’s hard to be as obsessive about detail as Martin is in the books.
College Humor, meanwhile, has slapped together some made-up sigils for some of TVland’s more famous families. Or, “Houses”, if you will. Here are some notable ones, complete with motto. (Like the sigils, every House in “Game of Thrones” also has their mottos — “Winter is Coming” for the Starks, “A Lannister Always Pays his Debts” for the Lannisters, etc).
If you watch enough TV, you should reasonably be able to know which one belongs to which TV family.
(You can see the rest of the sigils over at College Humor.)
