Good news, though, there isn’t a whole lot of greedy corporate businessmen around back in the days of Greek Gods and flying horses, so Gemma Arterton is probably safe as she joins the cast of Louis Leterrier’s remake of “Clash of the Titans”, which is already set to star Sam Worthington (“Terminator Salvation”) in the Harry Hamlin part. You remember “Clash of the Titans”, don’t you? Big sea monster, little damsel in distress, guy on flying horse?
The former Bond girl spills to Empire:
“My part is… the coolest part… Io’s not in the original film. Perseus falls in love with her and then [CENSORED FOR TINY SPOILER]. It’s a really great part.
The script is very different… Obviously the story is the story, but it’s much more about Perseus’ mission, and how he deals with being the son of Zeus, and things like that, so it feels a little more about him, and about the issues around that.”
Liam Neeson was supposed to play Zeus, Perseus’ dear ol dad, but given Neeson’s currently personal situation, a role in a fantasy film may not be the most pressing thing on the docket for him at the moment.
“Clash of the Titans” chronicles Greek dude Perseus and his quest to battle both Medusa and the Kraken monster in order to save the Princess Andromeda (who has yet to be cast). Along the way, he runs afoul of giant scorpions, deform guys with horns, and mechanical owls. Or at least, that was the case with the original. The remake will probably be fancier. How about a mechanical gerbil instead?
Below: Seriously, the scowling chick with snakes in her hair just ruins the mood every time.
