Gerard Butler in Talks for Alex Proyas’ Gods of Egypt

Gerard Butler

With “Game of Thrones'” Nikolaj Coster-Waldau already onboard to play the Egyptian God Horus, Alex Proyas’ period actioner is now in talks with “Olympus has Fallen” star Gerard Butler to play fellow Egyptian God Set.

Butler’s Set is described as “a god of the desert, storms, and foreigners in ancient Egyptian religion”, and in Egyptian mythology, ol Set “killed and mutilated his own brother Osiris.” That will pit Horus, the son of Osiris, against Set.

And as we all know, when Gods fight, humans suffer. Or something like that.

Alex Proyas (“The Crow”) will direct from a script by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama for Lionsgate.

Butler is coming off the “Die Hard” in a White House movie “Olympus has Fallen”, which ended up being the more profitable of the two “Die Hard” in a White House movies this year, easily besting Roland Emmerich’s doubly expensive “White House Down”. I honestly don’t think ANYONE saw that happening. I certainly didn’t.
