Well of course “Inside Llewyn Davis” is going to be snappy, quirky, and more than a little wacky. It is from the brothers Coen, after all. The boys that gave us “Fargo” and “The Big Lebowski” don’t just direct, they also wrote the screenplay too, but you could probably tell that from just watching the trailer below. I know the boys can do violence pretty well, too (“No Country For Old Men”, “True Grit”), but I much prefer their light-hearted stuff more.
The film features a nice cast, with Oscar Isaac (“The Bourne Legacy”) as the titular guitar-slinin’ Llewyn Davis, along with Carey Mulligan as his sometimes girlfriend and John Goodman.
Based on the memoir The Mayor of MacDougal Street by musician Dave Van Ronk, Inside Llewyn Davis follows a rising singer-songwriter (Oscar Isaac) through the folk music scene in ’60s New York.
Starring Justin Timberlake, Garrett Hedlund, Adam Driver, Alex Karpovsky, and F. Murray Abraham.
The film has a trio of foreign release dates, but strangely, no Stateside release date as of this posting.
