Ghost Rider 2 Details Reveal a Depressing Lack of Eva Mendesness

Mark Steven Johnson’s first “Ghost Rider” is one of those movies that I don’t really mind. It wasn’t great, but you know, it was watchable. And anyways, my five-year old nephew seemed to like it just fine, but then again, he tends to like things starring dudes with flaming skulls. Since the film was a hit (albeit a moderate one), a sequel is, of course, inevitable. The boys at Collider got around to talking with the film’s producer Mike De Luca about the sequel, and here are the highlights, helpfully put into bullet point format for your easy reading pleasure.

– Mark Steven Johnson is not directing the sequel

– Eva Mendes will not return as Roxanne Simpson

– Ghost Rider 2 (or Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance) will be a hard PG-13

– The film is going to take place in Europe

– De Luca is open to David Goyer directing the sequel but it all comes down to his very busy schedule

– Says the sequel will be like “pushing the reset button” on the franchise

– As you might expect from the success of Avatar, Ghost Rider 2 might be done in 3D

– Says Goyer has just delivered his updated outline to the studio

– And says Ghost Rider 2 could be in front of the cameras this year

Great, another movie that’s going to force me to wear uncomfortable plastic 3D glasses for two hours. God, please, let this 3D insanity end.

By the way, no Eva Mendes? That’s gonna suck.

Wait, what? I’m not in the sequel? Screw you, Mike De Luca!

    Thank GOD they knocked off that godawful wannabe ‘actor’ that can’t act for nuts. I’m talking about eva mendez – most of the films she’s in are flop films. Watching her act is as much fun as listening to nails on a blackboard or glass (whichever you find most painful). She was lousy in The Spirit and lousy in just about any movie she’s been in. I would compare her to a Pam Anderson who also has ZERO acting ability and just relies on her ‘manufactured’ bod to do the work. Needly to say, the bod will only take you that far!

      Okay so when you say that you mean several cover shoots to magazines, numerous films (bad or good), tv shows, cartoons, a comedy central roast, and still being popular 15 years after making your debut. Most people only HOPE that their bodys or whatever will “Only take them so far.” Eva Mendez is an actress, spokesmodel for a major make up AND clothing company, and a body that won’t quit. And her body is real. Not a fanboy just saying your logic is off. The Spirit was crap, and GR she was shafted. I heard she’s decent in “We Own The Night” I won’t count “Training Day” except for there was some wonderful eye candy. She wasn’t bad in that other Denzel flick, “Out of Time” which I liked. I will say this if she want’s to be taken more seriously she needs to stay away from the sexpot roles for a bit…but then we’d bed deprived.

    I actually liked Ghost Rider 1 that I got it on Blu-Ray. Though the more I watch the movie, the more i see retarded scenes, acting and plots just like I did for Spiderman 1.

    This is just Sony trying to keep from losing the character. Sony is so clueless. I’ve just read that John Malkovich will in fact be starring in Spider-Man 4 as the Vulture. Yeah, I’ll be seeing Thor and Captain America in 2011. While most fans besides myself at least wanted to see The Lizard, Sony and Raimi said fu*k the fans they’re going to see it anyway. But I’m not supporting that stupid decision so I won’t be going to see it.
