G.I. Joe Casting: David Murray is Destro

By Nix | January 29, 2008 (12:18 pm)

Yup, another day, another casting news concerning the “G.I. Joe” movie, this one from IESB, who says that David Murray has been cast as the villainous Destro. You know, I have to give the guys at IESB credit; they’ve basically supplanted AICN as the place to go for your geek movie scoops. Way to go, boys!

More:

David Murray, mainly an actor of theatre, has been described as a cross between Alan Rickman and Clive Owen. A strong, good-looking dark haired actor, it is said he has a bit of an aristocratic snob quality about him.

And although Destro had a minor role in the original animated “G.I. Joe: The Movie,” he is the main baddie this time around.

In the comics and the animated series, Destro’s full name is James McCullen Destro XXIV, and is Laird of Castle Destro in the Scottish Highlands.

Destro, Zartan, Baroness, Cobra Commander… Geez, this movie has more villains than an Al Qaeda convention!

As long as there’s no Serpentor or Cobra-La, I’m happy.
