Giamatti vs. Solomon Kane in Ironclad
Ironclad (2010) Movie — By Nix on September 18, 2009
Paul Giamatti is a great actor. I’d watch this guy in any movie. He just makes everything, even the crappiest of films (and there are few crappy films that Paul Giamatti has appeared in) watchable. His latest sounds even more watchable, at least if you’re into the genre as I am. Variety reports that Giamatti will be playing the villain in an upcoming medieval action movie called “Ironclad”, which is also set to star James Purefoy.
In the film, Giamatti would be embracing his villainous side, playing the tyrant King John. His nemesis will be played by Purefoy, a Knights Templar who, along with his version of the Magnificent Seven, must defend Rochester Castle against King John and his army in 13th century England. Expect sieges aplenty.
Giamatti has previously played a bad guy in “Shoot’em Up”, and this will be another period action movie for Purefoy, who also has “Solomon Kane” coming out soon. Jonathan English (”Minotaur”) who co-wrote the script with Erick Kastel, will direct for producers Rick Benattar and Andrew Curtis.
The film is set to shoot next month in Wales.
