Gillian Anderson Finally Returns to American TV with NBC’s Hannibal

Gillian AndersonWow, how long has it been since Gillian Anderson was on American TV? More than 10 years, according to IMDB.com, since “The X-Files” wrapped in 2002.

Mind you, that doesn’t mean Anderson hasn’t been keeping busy. She’s done a ton of movies and TV work Across the Pond, and was recently in “Johnny English Reborn”, and is currently fronting the TV series “The Fall”.

But you won’t need BBC America to see Anderson’s latest gig — on NBC’s “Hannibal” TV series from Bryan Fuller.

The former FBI agent of the paranormal and strange will be joining the show in a multi-episode arc, playing Hannibal Lecter’s therapist, Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier. Sheesh, what must those sessions be like? “Gee, doc, I have this craving for human flesh. Where do you think it comes from?”

Anderson joins Mads Mikkelsen as Lecter, with Hugh Dancy playing FBI agent Will Graham. The show will also star Laurence Fishburne, Eddie Izzard, Gina Torres, Molly Shannon, Ellen Greene and Chelan Simmons.

Look for the premiere, along with Scully’s return to American TV, in the Spring of 2013.
