I guess Sony couldn’t wrap their heads around the title “Straightheads”, because they’ve decided to change the title of Dan Reed’s revenge film starring Gillian Anderson (yes, Gillian Anderson of “X-Files” fame) to “Closure” for its Region 1 DVD release. Dan Reed informed readers through his blog (via) that the movie will not reach U.S. theaters, but would go direct-to-DVD after its British theatrical run. The film stars Anderson and Danny Dyer as an English couple who are attacked one night and Anderson raped; the two later take revenge on their attackers in gruesome ways and end up enjoying themselves way too much. The film has been a favored topic of fanboys, especially since Anderson gets nude in the film, her first since an old movie she had done long ago called “The Turning”.

This taut and truly violent thriller sees a middle-class woman and a security man who after ravaging in an explosive night of passion head off to a posh party in the highlands, however on the way they encounter a connection of violent gun holders who beat him and horrifically gang-rape her. After surviving this terrifying encounter, the traumatized couple decide to take revenge on the mob. After coming to terms with what happened, the couple manage to get hold of a rifle, and as the sun goes down a truly harrowing blood bath unfolds as the revenge stricken pair unleash their deadly revenge.

The British “Straightheads” hits UK DVDs sometime October, and will probably arrive on U.S. shelves about the same time period.
