Whoa. Marvel’s space adventure is getting classy.
Award-winning actress Glenn Close, who has made movie stardom and TV stardom equally easy, will be plying her bountiful thespian skills to the spaceways of James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
Trade site Deadline reports that the star of TV’s “Damages and enemy #1 to rabbits everywhere is in signing up for a “major role” in the upcoming space-set comic book movie. The actress is set to play “a leadership role in Nova Corp, the intergalactic space patrol” that will have a major presence in the film.
For those who don’t habla Marvel Comics, the Nova Corp. (a couple of their members pictured above — yes, including that thing that is just a floating, literally, head) is essentially Marvel’s version of D.C.’s Green Lantern Corp., so if you’ve seen the Green Lantern movie or the TV series or any other incarnation of the character, then you basically know what the Nova Corp. is. Only instead of magical rings, they have (not really) magical helmets, though unlike their Green Lantern counterparts, the Nova guys don’t tend to make silly things like big fire trucks or hammers out of their powers.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” will star “Zero Dark Thirty’s” Chris Pratt as a human pilot who ends up in an intergalactic adventure with the titular Guardians. He will be joined by fellow Guardians Dave Bautista and Zoe Saldana, with Michael Rooker, Lee Pace, and apparently John C. Reilly also now confirmed, because Deadline has just added his name to the official cast listing. To find out more about Reilly’s character, click here.
Directed by James Gunn, “Guardians of the Galaxy” protects the universe next year August 1, 2014.
