Yeah, “Rock of Ages”. About the ’80s. I barely remember the ’80s. I do remember that most of the ’80s was pretty embarrassing. The music was kinda good, though, in hindsight, but the rest? Man, sometimes I wake up at nights screaming just thinking about the ’80s. But I digress. I’m sure there are plenty of you out there who have fond memories of the decade. Hairspray. Big ass hair. “Miami Vice”. Sockless shoes. Etc. So this movie is probably for you, then. Plus, Catherine Zeta-Jones is playing one of those crazy Christian chicks who goes around protesting rock’n'roll like it’s the ’60s or sumthin’. That’s kinda cute.
“Rock of Ages” tells the story of small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Their rock ‘n’ roll romance is told through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake, and more.
The huge cast includes Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Ackerman, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston, Alec Baldwin, and Tom Cruise.
Adam Shankman of “Hairspray” and “Glee” fame directs the musical, due out June 1st, 2012.
