Green Lantern Can’t Afford Australia, Looks to Mexico/Canada

The question is, how does this affect the upcoming shooting schedule of “Green Lantern”? That’s open to discussion, though there would be some delay, as the film was supposed to shoot in November in Australia. Instead, Martin Campbell and the Warner Bros. gang will be moving the production of the big-budgeted “Green Lantern” to either Canada or Mexico, thanks to the falling dollar, which would have added an additional $20 million to the budget had it remained Down Under.

The D.C. comic book film, set to star Ryan Reynolds as the intergalactic space hero with a penchant for green and an aversion to yellow, was scheduled for a Summer 2011 bow. That’s still nearly two years away, so while production will be inevitably delayed somewhat, I don’t see the release date changing because of the last-minute location switch.

Hi, I'm Ryan Reynolds, star of the Green Lantern, and I love me some Mexican tortillas. Or, er, Canadian bacon.

I say go Canada. Why would you go to mexico. Nothing in Mexico could pass for an American cityscape or Landscape. Toronto, has been the place to go for a while now so do it up DC.

First sign of trouble for this movie. Can’t afford it, etc.
