Sony Pictures has updated their official site for Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, and included are some nice goodies including character wallpapers for the film’s main players, along with some new images of Andrew Garfield and company doing, well, stuff.

And then there’s this new, official storyline for the reboot:

Like most teenagers his age, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret that his father held … a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man. This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story. On July 3rd, 2012, the untold story begins.

So yeah, looks like Peter’s parents will definitely figure much more prominently into his Spider-Man heroics than they were in the Raimi films. We didn’t even meet them in the previous trilogy, after all.

Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson, Campbell Scott, Rhys Ifan, Irrfan Khan, Annie Parisse, Chris Zylka, and directed by Webb.

Pretty cool wallpapers. I think I’m in the minority when I say that I’m actually looking forward to this.

No I am too, just to see what they do with it.

I’m also looking forward to this movie. I like most I’ve seen so far.

I’m looking forward to this a lot! Does he look different from the comics? Sure, but I get the feeling he’s going to “feel” more like Spiderman from the comics. I also never thought I’d say this, but I’m starting to dig the shoes he’s wearing – just makes the character seem a bit more plausible and realistic. It’s one thing to create a live-action version of a comic book, but it’s another thing all together to make the story seem plausible for real people to flesh out and inhabit.

Agreed! The Raimi films had his look down but the character was all wrong. This film seems to bring his humor back to balance out his angst.

Looks like it’s coming together nicely.

I think that was my beef with Captain America – of all the SH movies we’ve been getting over the last 10 years, the ones that seem to fall short are the ones that try to make a literal translation from page to screen – while the more successful ones (in my humble opinion) are the ones that acknowledge a literal translation comes off cheesey and silly and make the necessary changes to make the story believable while still staying connected to what makes the stories great in the first place.

Nix, you forgot this picutire here, which I think is rather awesome because it shows an explanation of Spiderman boots.

Just check the little stuff in the heels. That’ll help for stability, right?
