It’s official: The Motion Picture Association of America has given director Fede Alvarez’s “Evil Dead” remake an R-rating. Of course, this is no surprise to anyone who watches the trailer at least once before heading off to work in the morning. That clip has more blood and gore than every 90s American horror movie put together.

We reported yesterday that Alvarez was forced to excise some material from the flick in order to avoid an NC-17 rating. Everyone knows this is nothing more than a code name for “unrated director’s cut.” Horror fans aren’t stupid, but we’re suckers for it anyway.

Here’s a handy plot synopsis:

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”

Fede Alvarez’s “Evil Dead” stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, and Elizabeth Blackmore. The film opens in theaters on April 12. If you missed the previously-released red band trailer or simply want to watch it again (and again), then you should probably check out the clip below.
