The vampires are coming in Guillermo del Toro’s new TV series “The Strain.” And yes, this is actually a TV series from del Toro, since he co-wrote the book series that the TV show is based on. Unlike, you know, when Steven Spielberg or J.J. Abrams sell their names to a TV show as being “from” them, when it’s really not. Hell, I’m pretty sure Spielberg and Abrams don’t know what most of the shows with their name attached are about. Probably.
In any case, check out your best trailer for del Toro’s “The Strain” yet. This is after lots of viral posters and teaser spots that don’t reveal much of anything.
A thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
Starring Corey Stoll, Mía Maestro, David Bradley, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Sean Astin, and Doug Jones.
Premiering on the FX Channel this July 13th.
