Guys-on-a-Mission Movie Disavowed Gets a Writer

What’s better than a guys-on-a-mission movie? Quentin Tarantino loved the genre so much he did “Inglourious Basterds”. Now CBS Films has assigned “Turistas” writer Michael Ross to take a shot at their military guys-on-a-mission movie “Disavowed”, which was originally written by Philip Shelby. Irwin Winkler, who last tried his hand on a military movie with “Home of the Brave”, will produce the action flick for CBS Films.
THR says “Disavowed”, which promises to be much less serious than “Brave”, concerns a group of military prisoners secretly dispatched to the African nation of Eritrea to retrieve a bio-chemical weapon that has gone missing. As a reward, the group’s sentences will be commuted if they are successful. And if they’re not, well, whatever, right? It’s not called “Disavowed” for nothing, you know. Expect plenty of badass military types in action and asshat military official types to get in their way.
Besides working on “Disavowed”, Ross has the political thriller “Cartagena” at 2929 Productions, the remake of “Near Dark” at Rogue Pictures, and an untitled Chernobyl action thriller in development at Summit.
