Well it had to happen — Spider-Man’s current girlfriend Gwen Stacy (played by the awesome short skirt wearing Emma Stone) finally meets Spider-Man’s future girlfriend Mary Jane Watson (played by the less awesomely attired Shailene Woodley — I guess this version of Mary Jane hasn’t, er, blossomed into a fierce dresser yet) on the set of Marc Webb’s in-production “The Amazing Spider-man 2″. It’s good to be Peter Parker.

Check out the two ladies, in character, meeting for the first time. I wonder what Mary Jane is doing at that house when they meet in the scene? Is that Peter’s house? Of course, POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds, life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ also stars Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx, Sally Field, Felicity Jones, Paul Giamatti, Martin Sheen, Dane DeHaan, and Colm Feore.

All the ladies love Spidey next year on May 2, 2014.

just not feeling her as mary jane

I was never feeling Kirsten Dunst in the part. I thought Watson would’ve made a perfect MJ but she was an amazing Gwen. I will hold judgment til I see a trialer or something. I have never seen her in anything though so no basis for judgment.

Raimi’s version of MJ was really an amalgam of Gwen and MJ. The new series seems to be sticking a bit more to the original material as far as their interpertations of the characters. I don’t mind Woodley but my biggest pet peeve is that they didn’t get someone smoking hot for the role of MJ. They nailed Gwen with casting Emma Stone. Her cute, girl next door appeal was perfect for Gwen. However, I wish that they had gone with either Christina Hendricks or Rachel Nichols for MJ. Both are a bit too old I suppose for the new films (Hendricks is 37 and Nichols is 33) but then again Andrew Garfield is 29! They would have worked for the Raimi films though age wise.

I had the misfortune of having to sit through a marathon of Secret Life of an American Teenager in which Woodley was the main character, I shudder thinking of it again, she is not talented at all. I loved Stone as Gwen, but I was also bummed cause now I knew she couldn’t be mary jane. I cant really say who i would pick as i know very few of the younger actresses out there

That’s interesting, especially since she’s been tapped as “The Next Big Thing” of 2013. Maybe the show was just badly written. She got some pretty big props for “The Descendents” with Clooney.

perhaps I am just out of touch with today’s notion of good actors and bad actors, sad since i’m only 29. seems most of the newer generation of “stars” i can barely stand.

I’ve never seen her in anything myself, so I wouldn’t really know. But hey, she could just be another Sam Worthington, where one studio wants her, and suddenly everyone wants her, aka a good manager/agent.

And there’s no mention of Rhino or anything in the synopsis.

for god’s sake’s, why can’t those guys cast A REAL woman to play MJ?
do you know Julian Stiles? She’s right for the role of Gwen Stacy.
how about Olivia Wilde? She can play MJ she’s smoking hot on TRON –
LEGACY. Let’s hope that there’s a blonde babe to play Black Cat in THE
    AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 with The Vulture(Patrick Steward?)
