Hack/Slash Comic Book Movie Gets a Director

Hey, it’s a movie based on a comic book movie. Where else you gonna go for a director but the field of commercials? And so Rogue Pictures has assigned Swedish commercial director Fredrik Bond to bring the serial killer serial killing character based on the Devil’s Due comic books to life. The main character in “Hack/Slash” is a young woman name Cassie Hack, a serial killer of serial killers. But don’t worry, she’s one of the good guys. Despite being, you know, a serial killer. Hey, The Punisher’s one too, why not a hot chick? You got something against hot chicks in skimpy wear?

Variety says Fredrik Bond has been attached to a number of horror projects, including a remake of the South Korean monster movie “The Host” and “The Hunger” for the Scott boys at their Scott Free shingle. Instead, Bond will make “Hack/Slash” his feature-film directorial debut, replacing original director Todd Lincoln, with production set to start sometime early 2010.

Bond will be working from a script by Justin Marks, aka the comic book guy you go to if David Goyer isn’t available. Marks’ previous writing credits include “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li” and a live-action take on “Voltron” that will probably never be made.

“Hack/Slash” the comic book was originally created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli. Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter, the same guys behind “Hitman” and the upcoming “Jonny Quest”, will produce.
