It’s not like I’ve been anxiously keeping track of the Farrelly Brothers’ “Three Stooges” movie or anything, but I do believe that at one point or another in the film’s development, there were some pretty big names attached to it. Names like Jim Carrey, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn, and Paul Giamatti, to name just a few. For whatever reason, those guys bailed on the film, and we’ve ended up with Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, and Chris Diamantopoulos as Larry, Moe, and Curly. Yeah, Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, and Chris Diamantopoulos. Hey, at the end of the day, maybe this will be a blessing in disguise. The idea of a humorless troll like Sean Penn playing one of the Stooges would have either been the greatest casting in the history of cinema, or the kind of cinematic nightmare that would have jump-started universal annihilation. Anyways, take a look at the first teaser trailer for “The Three Stooges” below. Nyuk nyuk?
Left on a nun’s doorstep, Larry, Curly and Moe grow up finger-poking, nyuk-nyuking and woo-woo-wooing their way to uncharted levels of knuckleheaded misadventure. Out to save their childhood home, only The Three Stooges could become embroiled in an oddball murder plot…while also stumbling into starring in a phenomenally successful TV reality show.
Starring Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jane Lynch, Jennifer Hudson, Sofia Vergara, Craig Bierko, Stephen Collins, Larry David and directed by Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly.
The yuks arrive April 13th, 2012.
