Apparently if you need a young actress for a teenage role in a movie that involves killers, hitmen, or Government assassins, just check to see if “True Grit’s” Hailee Steinfeld is available. The little lass, who will go into outer space in “Ender’s Game” later this year, has signed on for yet another movie involving men with guns — this time the action-comedy “Term Life” with Vince Vaughn.
And yes, we know it’s an action-comedy because, well, it’s got Vince Vaughn as its lead.
Based on the Image comic book by A.J. Lieberman and Nick Thornborrow, “Term Life” would find Vaughn (who is also producing) playing “a low-life whom everybody — including mob bosses, contract killers and dirty cops — wants dead. In a rare act of selflessness (and desperation), the man takes out a million-dollar term life insurance policy to benefit his estranged daughter, but soon after, he realizes it doesn’t take effect for 21 days.”
Steinfeld, of course, will play the estranged daughter.
If you’re keeping track at home, this is Steinfeld’s fourth film that involves men with guns trying to kill other men with guns in 2014 alone. She’s already scheduled to play a teenage assassin herself in “Barely Lethal” (or as I like to call it, “Hit-Girl in High School Part 2”), will be playing a daughter to Government killer Kevin Costner in “Three Days to Kill”, and will be playing a would-be killer in the hitman movie “For the Dogs” with Sam Worthington.
It’s a good thing Steinfeld’s got “Ender’s Game” and “Romeo and Juliet” on the way. That should break the monotony of people seeing her in movies about assassins and such.
Peter Billingsley will direct the film, off a script by A.J. Lieberman.
