Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Has the Biggest Opening of All Time

So I guess this means you kids are really, really, REALLY going to miss Harry Potter and the gang after “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2″ wraps up its run in theaters a few months from now, huh? That appears to be the case, with studio estimates putting the last Harry Potter movie at the very top of the all-time biggest debut weekend at $168.5 million, handily beating out Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” by a good $10 million, and Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man 3″ by $17 million.

As for the rest of the Top 5 openings of all time, the legion of screaming girls made “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” the #4 film opening with $142 million, and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” sailed into fifth place with $135 million. And for the curious, the penultimate “Harry Potter” installment, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1″ opened at 7th place all-time with $125 million.
