Havok Lights it up in New X-Men First Class Pic

If you saw the trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s “X-Men: First Class” than you already saw Lucas Till as Havok among the footage. Here’s the first official publicity shot of the actor in Havok pose, apparently doing some major damage with that “havok”-y power of his. Wonder if he’s ever gonna slip on the funky uni.

Till stars alongside Michael Fassbender, January Jones, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Kevin Bacon, Jason Flemyng, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Zoë Kravitz, Oliver Platt, Morgan Lily, Edi Gathegi, and Caleb Landry Jones.

See how it all began June 3, 2011.

Nice. his powers have always been Cyclops’ but amped up. So I’m thinking he got a lil too much solar energy and boom!

Hopefully they use his powers a lot more that Cyclops got to use his in the other films. Havok was always one of my favorites. In the trailer his power is done really well. I hope that they atleast have a nod to his original, all black costume. Rings and all! Have it be some kind of harness (which is what it was in the comics)built for him to wear in the danger room so that he doesn’t hurt the other classmates.

He’s probably not but the suit does look like they’re taking on that aspect with it keeping the amount of energy he absorbs down. And yeah I hope he gets more screen time than Scott

Word on the street is that the character will actually end up being Cyclops’ father… which I guess makes sense in Fox’ messed up time-line.

I’ve always been a fan of Havok, but not when they try and make him a hand-blasting version of Cyclops. Because of that I’m actually not a fan of what I saw in the trailer… then again maybe I’m not seeing it right. I was actually really looking forward to seeing his powers brought to life in 3-D. It’s one thing to draw rings of power emanating from someone, it’s another thing to make it work within a realistic setting. More like spheres of energy or something.

Alas… we shall see in due time!

Yeah I get him being his father for this timeline. Seeing as they wouldn’t be doing Corsair i can deal.
As for his powers as long as they do something with the spheres coming off the beam or something other than the circles on the suit I’m good.

UGH! Things like this are exactly why they needed to reboot the franchise with the proper First Class line-up! Havok as Cyclops’ father? Really Fox? Really?!?! While the trailer and the posters do have my interest, this news is really irritating to me. X-Men cannon has so many characters. While Havok is a cool character don’t use him unless you are planning on doing him right! Why not save him for a possible sequel to The Last Stand? If they would have rebooted the series like they should have, the first one could have been the original line-up vs. a threat not yet seen in the movies like Shadow King! They could even do a younger Magneto and the original Brotherhood. At the end of the first film, after battling and defeating Magneto and his brotherhood, they wind up on Krakoa investigating a strange mutant reading found on Cerebro.

The second film could bring in Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Storm, Banshee, Thunderbird and Sunfire (who I always wanted to see on the big screen!). Picking up with Xavier and Moira McTaggert, Xavier’s old friend who is now teaching at the school, recruiting powerful mutants from around the world to save the original team trapped on Krakoa. Mimic, Havok, Shadowcat and Polaris could be newly recruited students at the XMansion who want to help but are too unskilled (like in X-2). While Xavier, Moira and the new team are headed to Krakoa Sinister has his marauders attack the Xmansion and abduct Havok. The new team goes to Krakoa and tries to rescue the original team. During the battle with Sinister, Thunderbird is killed. And Sinister with the aid of an unknown assailant escapes with Jean. Mimic, who left the Xmansion to assist them is killed.

In the third one shattered team are mourning and trying to find Jean and Havok, with the help of new members Forge, Gambit and Rogue. Meanwhile Cyclops has gone out to find Jean on his own. Sunfire and Nightcrawler have left the team indefinately for different reasons. A new foe has kidnapped Angel and made him into his horsemen death. They battle the Four Horsemen (Plague, Abraham Kieros, Autumn Rolfson and Archangel)of Apocalypse! Sinister resurfaces with both Havok and Jean and reports to his ruler, Apocalypse, an ancient mutant with extrordinary power who is trying to destroy the human race. Sinister believes that the Summers/Grey genes are what Apocalypse needs to complete his conquest. After an epic battle the X-Men with Cyclops brought back into the fold by Beast, they defeat Sinister and Apocalypse and rescue Havok and Jean. The film ends with a meeting at the senate about the implimentation of the mutant registration act and the new Sentnel program. (A huge facility called the Trask corporation is mass producing mechanical parts and the camera pans to a gigantic shadowy figure, the eyes glow yellow. Roll credits.) In an after crwedits scene Scott and Jean are now on vacation. Jean walks to the edge of the water and the camera pulls in tight on her face. In her eyes the Phoenix fire is raging!

And that my friends is how you flesh out an X-men franchise!

I don’t know… needs about 82 more random out of context cameos for Fox to bite the idea. Allow me to add some “tweaks”…

            - Quicksilver will turn up as Xavier’s son
            - the Scarlett Witch is introduced as Magnus’ wife (who secretly has the hots for Quicksilver
            - Marrow is brought in as a new character except she doesn’t grow bone and is actually a boy
            - Cannon ball is shown to actually be the very first mutant and dies while pushing the Apollo 13 rocket into low orbit
            - Pyro is re-introduced as an edgy anti-Xavier activist with no mutant powers whatsoever but has cool flame tattoos!!!
            - Jubilee is is introduced as a character from the future who in this reality has the ability to fly and shoot exploding CD shaped energy attacks
            - Psyloch is a prostitute who it is revealed Beast has a relationship with – her mutant powers is that her hair glows!

…and other such awesome, magnorific ideas! GO FOX!

That woulda been epic! But the thing is, once this was established as aprequel and not a reboot, any thoughts of comic continuity or anything close to it should’ve gone right out your head. Havok as Cyclop’s father makes sense to a point. I mean even with “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” not being canon Alex would still have to be almost 20 years older than Scott. At least by making him his father they retain the familiar connections. I’m still on the fence about this film, but I have better hopes after seeing the trailers. That said I’m not holding my breath.

    @ Shazam!
LMAO!!! I don’t mind change but yeah Fox is bad. I’m all for change as long as it moives the story or makes sense.
