Or at least, she confirms to Time Out London during a long interview about her past, present, and future work. One of those future work doesn’t include the sequel to Marvel’s “Captain America”, since titled “The Winter Soldier”, in case you’re wondering.
Towards the end of the article, we get this:
She won’t, [Hayley Atwell] confirms, be back for the latter’s sequel, which moves the action into the present day.
So there you have it. In case you were still holding your breath for a little cameo (or perhaps, a little reunion) between the good Captain and his first lady love from World War II, it’s not going to happen.
…then again, maybe not.
Here’s the thing: “The Winter Soldier” will take place in the present, so Atwell’s Peggy Carter would be quite old by now (if she’s still alive, and they’re not doing a flashback). So, whose to say Captain America couldn’t visit the older Carter? They could easily get another actress to play her without putting Atwell in old lady make-up.
I’m just saying, this is Marvel, nothing is ever what it seems…
