Heath Ledger Found Dead in NYC

Sad news from the world of acting today, as Australian-born Heath Ledger, most famous for his role in “Brokeback Mountain”, and has already been praised for his performance as a psychotic Joker in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming “The Dark Knight”, was found dead in a downtown Manhattan apartment this afternoon, around 3:26 p.m. Police wouldn’t say if it was suicide, but Ledger was reportedly found dead in bed, nude, with sleeping pills next to him.

More:

It wasn’t immediately clear if Ledger had committed suicide. He had an appointment for a massage at a residence in the tony neighborhood of SoHo, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said. A housekeeper who went to let him know the massage therapist had arrived found him dead at 3:26 p.m.

A large crowd of paparazzi and gawkers gathered outside the building on an upscale block. Ledger’s body was still inside, and several police officers guarded the door.

The medical examiner’s office planned an autopsy Wednesday, spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said.

Heath Ledger was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor for Ang Lee’s “Brokeback Mountain” in 2005 and was currently shooting “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”. He leaves behind a daughter.

RIP, Heath.

I had heard that they were attributing his taking pills because he couldn’t sleep while playing the Joker. If that’s the case then watching him play the Joker will be even more creepy.
He was a good actor. RIP

Well, from what I heard, he’s always had trouble sleeping, as well as problems with drugs. Those things finally caught up with him, I guess. It’s sad, but I feel the worst for his daughter, who’ll never really know her dad.

One piece of good news about this was that Ledger had finished all of his post-production work on “The Dark Knight,” so he was no longer needed for re-shoots or overdubs or anything like that.
