Ah do declare, I think Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde’s characters in Austrian director Stefan Ruzowitzky’s crime flick “Deadfall” are supposed to be Southern siblings. I’m really not sure how much that plays into the movie, especially since Wilde’s accent seems to come and go depending on what her character is required to be at the moment (“sexy”, etc), but then again, it’s not like anyone has ever mistaken Wilde for Meryl Streep. The film has the siblings making for Canada when they run across “Sons of Anarchy’s” Charlie Hunnam. Shenanigans, as they say, ensue. That, and plenty of snow. And Eric Bana shooting people in the fact, apparently.
Siblings Addison and Liza are on the run from a casino heist gone wrong. When a car accident leaves their wheel man and a state trooper dead, they split up and make a run for the Canadian border in the worst of circumstances a near whiteout blizzard. While Addison heads cross-country, creating mayhem in his wake, Liza is picked up by ex-boxer Jay (Charlie Hunnam), en-route for a Thanksgiving homecoming with his parents, June (Sissy Spacek) and retired sheriff Chet (Kris Kristofferson). It’s there the siblings are reunited in a terse and thrilling showdown that pushes the bonds of family to the limit.
Starring Eric Bana, Olivia Wilde, Charlie Hunnam, Sissy Spacek, Kris Kristofferson, Jason Cavalier, Kate Mara, and Treat Williams.
Running December 7, 2012.
