If Warner Bros. has its way, they’ll capitalize on the burgeoning worldwide success of Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” with a “Man of Steel 2” and a “Justice League” movie in 2015. As I’ve said many times, that seems a tad optimistic, especially when it comes to the “Justice League” movie. The pre-production time on that movie alone will be massive.
Henry Cavill, Superman himself, seems to share my doubts. The actor recently shared his thoughts to ABC on the prospects of a “Justice League” movie (which would naturally include Supes as one of the primary leads/characters), telling the network:
Justice League could be great if done correctly. It’s a very tough one to do because the DC comic heroes are all god-like in their power. So in this real world universe, real-world setting we’re telling our story in, it’s going to be tough to achieve that. It has to be done very delicately with a lot of thought. So, it won’t be right away. I hope it’s not, anyway. It may take some time of building up other movies and other characters and introducing them together in one way or another.
What he’s trying to say is, “Yo, Warner, you should do it the Marvel way!”
Of course, that’s not to say he doesn’t think a “Justice League” would happen, or if it does happen sooner than he thinks it should, that he wouldn’t be involve. He adds:
I think it would be great to do, but I don’t think it’s around the corner.
Hopefully Warner Bros. is listening. I wouldn’t mind seeing a “Justice League” by 2015 myself, but let’s face it, this isn’t exactly the kind of thing you rush into.
Maybe Warner is letting this “Marvel way” talk get to them and are now actively (for whatever reason) trying to prove that it isn’t the only way. To that all I have to say is, the proof is in the box office.
