Yeah, I have no idea how you’re going to make this even mildly interesting for anyone who doesn’t watch football on Sundays. (And Mondays. And now, Thursdays.) I mean, it’s not even about a bunch of jocks running around being jocks. It’s about the guys in suits who sits in those luxury boxes during games sipping champagne. Or at least, I assume they sip champagne up there. Those boxes are just so “high and mighty”, you gotta figure it’s champagne or bust, right?
Anyhoo. Check out the trailer, poster, and some images for Ivan Reitman’s Kevin Costner starrer “Draft Day”. It’s, you know, about the NFL draft. I mean, come on, it’s right there in the title! I’m guessing the NFL doesn’t come off looking bad in this one, because they’re using the actual teams. If it was even the least bit critical of the league, you’d get a lot of made-up football teams.
On the day of the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver (Kevin Costner) has the opportunity to save football in Cleveland when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL.
Starring Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Ellen Burstyn, Denis Leary, Frank Langella, Chadwick Boseman, Sean Combs, and real-life NFL guys Jon Gruden, Mike Mayock, Deion Sanders, Rich Eisen, Mel Kiper, Chris Berman, and the Houston Texans’ Arian Foster. So that’s where Arian’s been keeping himself. Starring in a movie. God knows he wasn’t on the field this year all that much…
Get drafted next year, April 11, 2014.
