Highly Dubious Report Says Scarlett Johansson Will Make $20 Million for Avengers 2

The Avengers Portrait - Scarlett Johansson as The Black WidowHey, who says being a superhero doesn’t pay? Scarlett Johansson, who plays SHIELD spy/agent The Black Widow in Joss Whedon’s “The Avenger”, as well as “Iron Man 2″, will be paid a whopping $20 million to slip the skintight black outfit back on for “The Avengers 2″. This would, apparently, make her one of the highest paid actresses currently working in Hollywood.

That, uh, seems highly unlikely.

We are talking about Marvel Studios here. And if you know anything about Marvel, you know that they are notorious for penny pinching when it comes to their actors. I’m pretty sure Marvel thinks actors are interchangeable, and frankly, I’m not sure if they’re wrong. (With, you know, the exceptions being the guys whose character’s names appear in the title of their movies.)

That’s the report from the NYPost (via Blastr), quoting the UK tabloid The Sun. Ah, the UK tabloids… Like I said, grain of salt, people, grain of salt.

But hey, this silly report does give me an excuse to talk about “The Avengers 2″, and to once again post this awesome shot of Scarlett Johnasson as The Black Widow. Now that is a comic book superhero pose. I mean, look, she doesn’t even care things are blowing up around her. She’s like, “Explosions? Been there, done that, where’s my coffee?” Girl be chillin’ in the middle of a battlefield. Great shot.

DAT ASS! Honestly, for me, any good looking, semi-talented actress could pull off the role. I was actually surprised by her better than usual performance in The AVengers though.
