Say what? Hollywood wants to make a movie from a book that doesn’t call George Bush a Nazi or posit America’s ill-conceived foreign policy? Oh hell no! Is that even possible in Today’s Hollywood? But apparently yes, which explains why Hollywood is in a frenzy to snatch the movie rights to former Navy SEALs Marcus Luttrell’s book, “Lone Survivor”. The full title of the book is, “Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes Of SEAL Team 10″, and chronicles the real-life story of Luttrell and his SEALS unit as they are ambushed in Afghanistan, leaving only Luttrell the sole survivor, hence the title.
More about “Lone Survivor”:
According to The Washington Post review, it’s the true story of American heroism and Afghani humanity, of morality vs survival. In June 2005, Petty Officer turned combat-trained Navy SEAL Luttrell led a four-man team into the mountains of Afghanistan on a mission to kill a Taliban leader thought to be allied with Osama bin Laden. On foot, the SEALs encountered two adult men and a teenage boy. A debate broke out as to whether the trio should be summarily executed to keep them from alerting the Taliban. Luttrell opted to spare the Afghanis’ lives. About an hour later, the Taliban launched an attack that killed all the SEALs except Luttrell, who was sure that the three Afghanis he let go turned around and betrayed his team.
The book is already a #1 bestseller on the New York Times’ non-fiction list, so it’s selling like hotcakes.
Maybe they can get George Clooney to star, and George can find a way to slip in the theory that George Bush is a Nazi. One can only hope.
