Hollywood Hot for Patriotic War Book

Lone Survivor Book CoverSay what? Hollywood wants to make a movie from a book that doesn’t call George Bush a Nazi or posit America’s ill-conceived foreign policy? Oh hell no! Is that even possible in Today’s Hollywood? But apparently yes, which explains why Hollywood is in a frenzy to snatch the movie rights to former Navy SEALs Marcus Luttrell’s book, “Lone Survivor”. The full title of the book is, “Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes Of SEAL Team 10″, and chronicles the real-life story of Luttrell and his SEALS unit as they are ambushed in Afghanistan, leaving only Luttrell the sole survivor, hence the title.

More about “Lone Survivor”:

According to The Washington Post review, it’s the true story of American heroism and Afghani humanity, of morality vs survival. In June 2005, Petty Officer turned combat-trained Navy SEAL Luttrell led a four-man team into the mountains of Afghanistan on a mission to kill a Taliban leader thought to be allied with Osama bin Laden. On foot, the SEALs encountered two adult men and a teenage boy. A debate broke out as to whether the trio should be summarily executed to keep them from alerting the Taliban. Luttrell opted to spare the Afghanis’ lives. About an hour later, the Taliban launched an attack that killed all the SEALs except Luttrell, who was sure that the three Afghanis he let go turned around and betrayed his team.

The book is already a #1 bestseller on the New York Times’ non-fiction list, so it’s selling like hotcakes.

Maybe they can get George Clooney to star, and George can find a way to slip in the theory that George Bush is a Nazi. One can only hope.

Lt. Murphy led the SEAL team, not Marcus. And it was everyone’s decision to spare the goatherd’s lives. Do you know why? Because those SEALS were scared that the liberal media back home would tear them to shreds and ultimately they would be charged for murder, and thrown in a jail to live side by side with rapists and criminals. Liberals need to back the f*ck off and let the soldiers do their job. War is war. Loss off innocent life is tragic, but as with any war, IT CANNOT BE HELPED. Three SEALS should not have to worry about liberals getting in the way of their sworn duty to this country.
Also, why are you dishonoring a former Commander in Chief? Granted that 99% of the people couldn’t do the job he did (myself included). Comparing a President to being a Nazi is just disgusting. Even more so coming from a fellow American. Show some f*cking respect to our Commander, and to the rest of the Armed Forces, shut the f*ck up, and let them do their job.

I agree with you. Nix, you got the summary all wrong like previous posters said. Plus, Luttrell voted to kill the herders because he had bad gut feeling. There are other stories about Special Forces soldiers showing compassion and releasing civilians who spot them on a mission, but in end, they get ambushed for doing so. And exactly how is former President Bush a Nazi? The war in the Middle East started waaaaaayy before Bush got into office. Saddam was guilty of genocide. And if Bush was such a bad president during his 1st term… then how in the world did he get re-elected. Show some respect! These terrorists kill their own people without a second thought.. so if they ever got a chance to overtake the US, they’ll kill every US citizen, civilian or not. Learn some history before stating your illogical opinion.

Talk about missing the point. If you don’t get that I was being sarcastic about the Bush as Nazi via Hollywood references, I can’t help ya on that one. I recommend taking some reading comprehension courses at your local junior college to prevent future embarrassment. Also, I didn’t “summarize” anything. The book summary was put in a block quote with the very obvious “quote” sign to denote that the passage was quoted from a news source. Hell, even the quote in the block quote started with, “According to The Washington Post review…” I mean, come on, do I have to put pictures on a blackboard ala Glenn Beck so you’ll “get” it? Sheesh.

not to knock on the seal community because they are first rate warriors there is no doubt but coming from a similar backround i think their lives could have been sparred through better planing and use of contingences upon compromise. the first huge no go was the lack of co-ordination with the insert team that lead to the release of the fastrope on the insert site. that is just sloppy. second it sounded like they left for the mission unprepared in that they were not outfitted to construct a proper hide site/OP and latrell even says in the book they left super important comm gear behind because ‘it was to heavy’. the last huge glaring mistake was that they seemed to have no pre-thoughtout contingency for compromise. they sat around having a conversation about what to do when it should have been a no-brainer because all these questions should have been answered in a mission breif before they even got on the bird. hopefully there has been a serious look at the mistakes made to prevent this from happening in the future. i also heard marcus in an interview say ‘it was tougher than i thought it would be i had no idea what i was getting into’ personaly i think he is doing his communitty and the familys of the fallen a huge disservice with this book and movie. i would never want that guy watching my back in a fight ever
