Talk about missing the point. If you don’t get that I was being sarcastic about the Bush as Nazi via Hollywood references, I can’t help ya on that one. I recommend taking some reading comprehension courses at your local junior college to prevent future embarrassment. Also, I didn’t “summarize” anything. The book summary was put in a block quote with the very obvious “quote” sign to denote that the passage was quoted from a news source. Hell, even the quote in the block quote started with, “According to The Washington Post review…” I mean, come on, do I have to put pictures on a blackboard ala Glenn Beck so you’ll “get” it? Sheesh.

I agree with you. Nix, you got the summary all wrong like previous posters said. Plus, Luttrell voted to kill the herders because he had bad gut feeling. There are other stories about Special Forces soldiers showing compassion and releasing civilians who spot them on a mission, but in end, they get ambushed for doing so. And exactly how is former President Bush a Nazi? The war in the Middle East started waaaaaayy before Bush got into office. Saddam was guilty of genocide. And if Bush was such a bad president during his 1st term… then how in the world did he get re-elected. Show some respect! These terrorists kill their own people without a second thought.. so if they ever got a chance to overtake the US, they’ll kill every US citizen, civilian or not. Learn some history before stating your illogical opinion.

Lt. Murphy led the SEAL team, not Marcus. And it was everyone’s decision to spare the goatherd’s lives. Do you know why? Because those SEALS were scared that the liberal media back home would tear them to shreds and ultimately they would be charged for murder, and thrown in a jail to live side by side with rapists and criminals. Liberals need to back the f*ck off and let the soldiers do their job. War is war. Loss off innocent life is tragic, but as with any war, IT CANNOT BE HELPED. Three SEALS should not have to worry about liberals getting in the way of their sworn duty to this country.
Also, why are you dishonoring a former Commander in Chief? Granted that 99% of the people couldn’t do the job he did (myself included). Comparing a President to being a Nazi is just disgusting. Even more so coming from a fellow American. Show some f*cking respect to our Commander, and to the rest of the Armed Forces, shut the f*ck up, and let them do their job.

in this book marcus mentioned he wanted to become a medical doctor . i am curious what has happened in his life since the book has been published. the navy will pay the tuition of medical school make you a reserve officer and give you a stipend . the reason i know this is because my sister was a navy doctor . first you have to be accepted to medical school. even d.o. school . even p.a. does anyone know ?

The men who risked their lives to get Marcus off of that mountain are the Air Force Reserve from the 920th Rescue Wing http://www.920rqw.afrc.af.mil. Windfall films just finished a documentary on the actual rescue of Marcus. It’s a harrowing tale and they couldn’t have done it w/o the Army Rangers who went it in on the ground and secured the area. The documentary is called the Taliban Gambit and will air soon on the Smithsonian Channel.

Lone survivor is one of the bast books out there, i can only hope that hollywood doesnt screw it up like it has with every other movie it gets from books.

Let us not forget that 19 special ops members died that day. ET1 Jeffrey Allen Lucas, my childrens cousin was on the helicopter which was shot down, please remember him and his team.

It was Lt. Michael Murphy who led the SEAL Team. It was a team decision to spare the lives of Afghani villagers. Lt. Murphy earned the Medal of Honor posthumously for his actions.
