Movie bloggers all around the universe know all about Nikki Finke. She was the founder of Deadline Hollywood, the site that, easily, provided movie fanboy websites with anywhere from 50 to 80% of their movie news coverage in the last few years. This was before places like The Hollywood Reporter and Variety started really catering to fanboy link bait articles.
Anyways, something happened and Finke is no longer with Deadline Hollywood. Background shenanigans. Who cares, it doesn’t impact us any, so let’s not get into it. Point is, she’s since gone on to launch her own website, NikkiFinke.com, and her first post launched yesterday and it was a doozy. According to Finke, D.C. and their studio mates Warner Bros. are currently finalizing their July Comic Con appearance, where she expects them to announce these future superhero movies and their expected release dates:
May 2016 – Batman v Superman
July 2016 – Shazam (Captain Marvel)
December 2016 – Sandman
May 2017 – Justice League
July 2017 – Wonder Woman
December 2017 – Flash/Green Lantern Movie
May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2
According to Finke, the reason Zack Snyder’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” was delayed was because of this line-up and the studio’s Marvel-esque play, which includes cameos introducing future “Justice League” members like Cyborg, Flash, and Green Lantern. With the exception of Cyborg and Wonder Woman, none of those actors have been cast, and don’t expect Ryan Reynolds back as GL. There is also word that Aquaman might also appear, though he’ll definitely appear in the “Justice League” movie later.
Also, plans for a “Metal Men” and “Suicide Squad” flicks are now said to be “off the table.”
Finke reiterates that the line-up above is only preliminary, and the studio could change/alter/drop/add to it before the geekfest over at San Diego next month.
But still, that’s quite an ambitious line-up. Oh, Marvel, what have ye wrought?
