How do you like THIS premise for a horror-comedy: A janitor who, during a Christmas holiday, gets trapped in an underground research facility with military-trained Rhesus monkeys. Cool, right? Basically it’s going to be a guy (a lowly janitor!) in an underground facility fighting against monkeys trained to kill. I mean, come on — I’d pay to see that! The whole thing is being brought to the big screen under the guide of the Dark Horse guys, in particular Mike Richardson, who knows a thing or two about bringing ideas for movies that no one thinks can be done and making it work. (Except “Barb Wire”. Ignore that one.)

War Monkeys” is the second feature Nettles has been hired to pen this year. The scribe is currently writing the thriller “Oculus” for producers Christina K.Y. Lee and Jason Perr of Accelerated Entertainment. He is also associate producer on “Cat Tale” at Imagi Entertainment.

Cleve Nettles is writing the script based on a story by Chris Patton.
