The premise of “Untitled Gehenna Project” (I’m not sure if that’s the film’s title, or if the film has no title as yet) the new horror film from Jason Connery (yes, son of Sean) sounds like good horror movie fun. It’s also got a pretty decent cast, fronted by Cuba Gooding Jr., and including Taryn Manning, Ron Perlman, Henry Rollins, Valerie Cruz and Ray Winstone. Ron Perlman in any horror movie is good for a laugh or two, as Perlman always seems to know if he’s stuck in cheese, and acts accordingly.
Sean Connery’s son, Jason Connery, is directing the tale of an elite group of soldiers (Gooding, Manning, Jason London, Franky G, Zack Ward, Stephanie Jacobson and Brandon Fobbs) sent on a covert mission by a government agent (Cruz) to retrieve a missing scientist (Perlman) from an underground lab.
They encounter a priest (Rollins) who tells them that an “ancient evil” has been released, causing their greatest fears to come to life. Their former leader (Winstone) plays a pivotal role in uncovering what is actually taking place at the facility. Bill Moseley and Sarah Ann Morris play members of the compromised research team.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this thing went straight to DVD. Not that it doesn’t sound good, but it’s just the kind of movie that usually ends up at Blockbuster or on The Sci Fi Channel as an “Original Movie”.
Update: Thanks to the film’s writer, Keith Kjornes, who informs us in the comment section that the movie is called “Ice 44”.
