Hugh Jackman to Haunt Ghostopolis

Comic Book Movie News, Ghostopolis Movie, Horror Movie News — By Nix on May 4, 2009

Not one to sit on his laurels despite his latest movie sitting atop the box office (a little something called “Wolverine”, in case you’ve been living under Rosie O’Donnell), and realizing that his bread and butter lies with comic book movies instead of, you know, movies about his native and beloved Australia, Hugh Jackman has snapped up another comic book movie to star and produce. His next project ditches those bothersome mutants for those pesky ghosts, and is a live-action adaptation of Doug TenNapel’s as-yet-unreleased “Ghostopolis” comic book, which sounds suspiciously like “Men in Black”, minus Will Smith. It also sounds a lot like “Van Helsing”, which means Jackman will be in familiar territory.

THR explains the storyline:

The story centers on a man who works for the government’s Supernatural Immigration Task Force. His job is to send ghosts who have escaped into our world back to Ghostopolis. When a living boy accidentally is sent to the other side, the agent must team with a female ghost (and former flame) to bring him back.

No director or writer has been attached to the project.

Jackman will also be producing the film, his second comic book property (”Nowhere Man” being the other one) for Disney.

TenNapel, meanwhile, is a wanted man in Hollywood. Besides “Ghostopolis”, he also has “Tommysaurus Rex” iat Universal, “Creature Tech” at New Regency, and “Monster Zoo” at Paramount.
