(Article by Tony G.) In what could be one of the most impressive superhero movie casts assembled, The Incredible Hulk (which is technically Hulk 2, but must distance itself from Ang Lee as much as possible) now has another talented performer join its ranks…William Hurt!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hurt will be filling Sam Elliott’s cowboy boots (figuratively speaking) by playing Gen. Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Louis Leterrier’s new movie. Joining him of course will be Ed Norton, Tim Roth and Liv Tyler, so expectations are quite high.
The Incredible Hulk sees Bruce Banner/Hulk on the run, trying to avoid capture long enough to cure the condition that turns him into a monster. Hurt will play Gen. Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the man who has dedicated his life to capturing the Hulk — and who also is the father of Banner’s love interest, Betty Ross.
As an apologist for the original Hulk movie (and I’m only a little ashamed to admit that) , I hope this film learns a lot from its predessor, both good and bad. Also I’m not too sure what Louis Leterrier can bring to the mix, but his Transporter films are a lot of fun and so hopefully at the very least, this film can be a visually stunning superhero romp (with a hint of pathos and minimal Fantastic Four style comedy).
