Idris Elba is an Alcoholic Warrior Monk in Ghost Rider 2

“Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” has added two more names to its cast: “The Losers’” Idris Elba (left) and Johnny Whitworth, who has appeared in “Gamer”, the sci-fi actioner from “Ghost Rider 2″ directors and writers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor.

In the sequel, set to return Nicolas Cage as the dude with the flaming skull, Elba will play an alcoholic warrior monk tasked with finding Ghost Rider, while Whitworth plays a criminal recruited by the devil (Ciaran Hinds) as a henchman.

The sequel previously cast Hinds as the villain, along with Italian lovely Violante Placido as the female lead in need of sasving from the devil.

“Ghost Rider 2″ takes place after the events of the first film, and finds Johnny Blaze (Cage) in self-imposed exile in Europe, where he is forced out of hiding to save the day once again. Ain’t that always the way?

Euro chicks dig the flaming skull.

I hope that these characters are comic based and not just made up. There are plenty of villains and supporting characters in the Ghost Rider comics to use.

Hopefully Elba’s face will not be recognizable in this. Although it’s different studios, I don’t want to see his face hopping around the Marvel Universe as different characters. He really needs to just stick with a character that could establish his own franchise “Luke Cage”.

He would be a good Luke Cage. I could also see him as Black Panther. Atleast his role in Thor is small enough that it shouldn’t affect his being cast as another role. If Chris Evans can do it why can’t he?!
